LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Generation Now, Inc. endeavors to shape a better Virgin Islands by identifying and polishing young leaders. One of the activities designed with this mission in mind is our Leadership Conference. The Conference provides young leaders with insight on developing their leadership skills and potential.

 

Generation Now, Inc. hosted its second Leadership Conference on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from at the Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort. Local motivational speakers participated, and renowned columnist, author and political commentator, Roland Martin of CNN delivered the keynote address. The theme of the conference was, "Fueling the Flame: Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders".

 

The conference featured workshops such as Balancing Career and Family, Preparing for Leadership, Building Wealth, Grooming Tomorrow's Leaders, Habits of Successful Virgin Islanders, Developing Future Leaders, Tips of Highly Effective People and Professional Mentorship.

 

Over 200 persons attended the event and listened as Roland Martin told the group in his keynote address to "Take it Over" a challenge to you persons to identify opportunities to lead.  He admonished that such endeavors should be accompanied with a plan and the willingness to accept the challenges that comes with leadership.

 

EMERGING LEADERS AWARD CEREMONY

Generation Now, Inc. annually highlights the achievements of community activists, educators, administrators, law and legal officials, entrepreneurs, clinicians, authors, and sports enthusiasts of the Virgin Islands populace.   The Emerging Leaders Award Ceremony is held annually. Over the years, over 40 leaders have received this distinction.

The persons included in our compilation of Emerging Leaders have successfully established accomplishments in their individual areas of education, practice, research, administration, publication and community service. They are principally selected because of their outstanding contributions to the betterment of the Virgin Islands Community.

In upholding the organization's mission, during the 2010 Leadership Conference, we recognized and honored as Emerging Leaders the following Virgin Islanders who have demonstrated excellence and community involvement:
