Generation Now! Is the brainchild of a group of Virgin Islanders who felt that the issues of the day were not reflective of the issues of people trying to create a life in the Virgin Islands. Somehow the voices were not being heard. We felt that as young Virgin Islanders we were always hearing about the “brain drain” of talent that leaves every year, yet nothing was being done to develop and promote the talent that remained in the Virgin Islands. While a lot of us were our building other communities we decided to build ours Fourteen people got together in a house in Mon Bijou and came up with the name Generation Now!.

Our first endeavor was to support then gubernatorial candidate John deJongh for his bid in the 2002 election. Even though, deJongh’s bid was unsuccessful our membership grew and we became exposed to the political process and the people’s thirst for leadership. From its very inception, we knew that Generation Now! was bigger than any candidate or member. We knew that this organization would be called upon to lead, monitor and support the people and government of the Virgin Islands. We learned quickly that this support would not only be political but social as well. |
